OKRVA Players, Coaches, and Families,

The OKRVA Regional Championships will be at the Bennett Center, Centennial Building and Pavilion at the OKC Fairgrounds on May 6th-7th, 2023.

VENUES

We will be utilizing 41 total courts.  Courts 1-30 will be in the Bennett Center.  Courts 31-33 will be in the Centennial Building.  Courts 34-41 will be in the Pavilion.

Outside chairs are not allowed in any of the venues.  PLEASE SHARE THE CHAIRS!  When your team is not playing, please allow the spectators for the teams playing to use the courtside chairs.  Please do not move chairs from one court to another.

Other than water/sports drinks for athletes, there is no outside food or drink allowed in any buildings.

TICKETS

All spectators 15 and up will need to purchase admission tickets for entry to the buildings.  WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND PURCHASING TICKETS ONLINE BEFORE ARRIVING TO THE EVENT.  There will be a lot of foot traffic moving through the buildings.  THE LOBBY OF THE BENNETT CENTER IS THE ONLY PLACE TO PURCHASE TICKETS IN PERSON.  Pre-Purchasing tickets will save time for those playing in other buildings.

Club Directors/Administrators,

We are excited to host 330+ teams at our Regional Championships this season.  Please note the following:

  • Our rankings team will evaluate results for Bid Division seeding, but they only have access to results entered into AES.  Any results submitted late to AES will not be considered in the ranking of the tournament.
  • The Club Division (non-bid) seedings will be based exclusively on AES National Rankings.
  • Team Check in will be Friday night beginning from 7pm–9pm.  Check-in will be in the main lobby of the Bennett Center.  Teams are highly encouraged to check in Friday night.   Team packets will include credentials for coaches, bag tags for athletes and rosters.  All coaches will need credentials to enter the venues.  Teams will need to sign rosters when they pick up their rosters.
  • Please make sure to check your officiating schedules.  Some teams will officiate before their first match on either day.  On Sunday, all teams should assume that if they lose their match, they will be the work team for the next match, regardless of what age division or level the next match is.  Please verify with the Championship Desk that your playing and work team responsibilities are complete before departing.
  • Tie-breaking procedures  – If your team is involved in a tie, DO NOT LEAVE. Check with the Championship Desk whether your team may be involved in a tie-breaking set(s).
    • If your team does leave, your team may be subject to penalty
      • if your team is the assigned work team, points will be awarded to your opponent of the next set to be played (1 point for every minute the complete work team is late beginning with the second team’s warmup period), and/or
      • forfeit of any tie-breaking set(s) in which the team is not present and ready to play at the conclusion of the full warm-up period.
    • You may review tie-breaking procedures by clicking here.
  • We will have a limited number of game balls for sale on Sunday at Championship Desk. The cost is $25/ball.

Per direction of the OKRVA Board of Directors, all teams participating in Regionals, must have a rostered adult serve as R2 for officiating assignments.  Those that will serve that role at Regionals are strongly encouraged to complete the USAV Academy training for Coach Referee. The training is available in USAV Academy, OK22_111 Jr. Coach Referee Only Training. The instructions to register for this training are available on OKRVA.com on the Officiating tab, then “How to Register for a Clinic.”  Here is the link to the instructions.  Officials working the tournament have been notified of this requirement and will not allow anyone other than a rostered adult to officiate.

We will have the following bids to potentially award to the 2023 USAV Girls Junior National Championships.

  • 11s = 1 bid (National)
  • 12s & 13s = 2 bids (National, American)
  • 14s, 15s, 16, & 17s = 3 bids (National, American, Freedom)
  • 2023 GJNC dates/cities as follows:
    • 11s – Minneapolis – June 14th-16th
    • 12s & 13s – Minneapolis – June 14th– 17th
    • 14s & 15s – Chicago – June 28th – July 1st
    • 16s & 17s – Chicago – July 3rd – July 6th

Qualifying teams must declare their intention to take or decline the bid at the conclusion of bracket play. Teams finishing in the top 6 should check with Championship Desk before leaving to see if any bids will trickle down.

OKRVA is again offering a separate club division (non-bid) for most ages.  These division give teams the opportunity to compete at our region’s premier event, but do not want to play for a bid to the 2023 GJNCs.  The minimum number of teams is eight to hold a club division. The region reserves the right to move teams from the “Club Division” to the “Bid Division” if there are not enough teams to host a “Club Division.”  Please notify the Region Office if you have already registered and would like to move to a different division. The Region Office can make that change.

  • A reminder that all teams with waivered players are required to:
    • play in the “Club Division”,
    • play in the age division of the oldest player on the team, or
    • play in the “Bid” division without the waivered player(s).
